Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic Services

Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic is a practice established to provide as complete a range of dental treatments as possible. There are very few things that we cannot provide on-site. This means you will usually end up with a better result in a shorter period of time. Below are some examples of treatments we offer. If there is something not present below please call us to check if it is available. We are currently updating our web-site so there are many treatments not yet listed.

Veneers

Veneers are thin, semi-translucent “shells” typically attached to your front teeth. Veneers are customized from porcelain material and permanently bonded to your teeth. Veneers are a great alternative to otherwise painful dental procedures to improve the appearance of your smile.

Common problems that veneers are used for:
• Spaces between the teeth
• Broken or chipped teeth
• Unsightly, stained or discolored teeth
• Permanently stained or discolored teeth that cannot be sufficiently bleached
• Crooked or misshapen teeth
Veneers are a great aesthetic solution to your smile that may even help you avoid treatment. Subtle changes to your smile can be achieved with veneers, and in most cases, veneer application is completed in only two office visits.

Bonding

Bonding is a common solution for:
• Fixing or repairing chipped or cracked teeth
• Reducing unsightly gaps or spaces between teeth
• Hiding discoloration or faded areas on the tooth’s surface
Often used to improve the appearance of your teeth and enhance your smile. As the name indicates, composite material is bonded to an existing tooth. Unlike veneers or crowns, composite bonding removes little, if any, of the original tooth.

Composite bonding has many advantages:
• It is a quick process, which typically lasts less than one hour.
• It does not reduce the tooth’s original structure and is relatively inexpensive.
• Composite resins come in many different shades and provide better matching of shades to the natural color of your teeth.
• Composite bonding, however, is not as durable and long-lasting as veneers and crowns and may need to be re-touched or replaced in the future.
Composite materials tends to stain more easily and therefore requires proper care and regular cleaning. In order to ensure the longest possible duration of the bonding, composites should be brushed and flossed daily. Common staining elements include coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco and some foods, e.g. curry.

Crowns

A crown is a permanent covering that fits over an original tooth that is either decayed, damaged or cracked. Crowns are made of a variety of different materials such as porcelain, gold, acrylic resin or a mix of these materials. Porcelain generally has the most natural appearance.
The treatment for a patient receiving a crown involves:
1. Numbing the tooth to remove the decay in or around it.
2. Prepare the tooth to provide an ideal fit for the crown.
3. Making an impression of your teeth in order to create a custom-made crown (usually takes two to three weeks).
4. Making a temporary crown out of acrylic resin and fitting it onto the tooth during the interim period when the permanent custom-made crown is being created.
5. Applying the permanent crown (when received from the lab) by removing the temporary crown and fitting the permanent one onto the tooth.
6. After ensuring that the crown has the proper look and fit, the dentist bonds it into place permanently.
This process generally consists of a minimum of 2 visits over a period of a few weeks. At Dr Ghassan's Dental Clinic we have our laboratory on-site which means we can make your crowns without sending them out. No more wondering if the postal service will lose the crown or possible delays. We are able to bring our technician to the chair to see your smile and discuss with you what will make you happy.

Once the procedure is completed in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic , proper dental hygiene, including daily brushing and flossing, is required to maintain healthy, bacteria-free teeth, gums and crowns. This helps in the prevention of gum disease. Given proper care, your crowns can last a long time.

Tooth Straightening with Braces

Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic offer ceramic and metal braces. We also offer invisalign which are invisible braces. We treat only adults and can often complete treatment in only 6 months. We try to avoid extracting teeth except in exceptional circumstances as the vast majority of patients can be treated without taking out healthy teeth. We refer complicated cases.

Wisdom tooth removal

We are able to extract and remove almost any wisdom tooth onsite. We use a CT scanner to allow us to check the exact position and angulation of the tooth. We are able to help with your claim with healthcare insurance companies. We provide oral sedation where necessary.

Root Canal Treatment in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic

The words "root canal" usually strikes fear into people's hearts. At Dr Ghassan's Dental Clinic we are very careful to ensure you are completely numb during root canal treatments. Now it is possible to avoid any pain whatsoever due to the new stronger anesthetics we have available. While a root canal is a time consuming procedure it will not hurt and many of our patients have told us that they found it easier than fillings. A root canal will often allow you to keep a tooth that would otherwise need to be taken out.

Tooth Whitening

We offer both tray (take home whitening) and Chair-Side Zoom 1 hour whitening in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic

1. What causes discoloration of teeth?
There are many causes. The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, colas, tobacco, red wine, etc. During the formation of teeth, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.
2. Who may benefit from ZOOM Advanced Teeth Whitening?
Almost anyone. However, teeth whitening may not be as effective or some as it is for others. Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic can determine if you are a viable candidate for ZOOM Teeth Whitening through a thorough oral exam, including a teeth shade assessment.
3. Do many people whiten their teeth?
More people whiten their teeth than you might imagine. A bright, sparkling smile can make a big difference for everyone. The ZOOM Teeth Whitening System makes it easier and faster than ever before.
4. Is ZOOM Teeth Whitening safe?
Yes, extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In fact, many dentists consider teeth whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available. As with any teeth whitening product, ZOOM Teeth Whitening is not recommended for children under 13 years of age and pregnant or lactating women.
5. How long do the results last?
By following some simple post teeth whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend flossing, brushing twice daily, and occasional touch-ups with ZOOM take-home gel. These are professional formula products designed specifically to keep your teeth at their brightest. They are available through our office.
6. Is there any difference between over-the-counter teeth whiteners and ZOOM Advanced Teeth Whitening?
Yes! Consulting your dental professional is always the first step to whitening your teeth safely. Plus, over-the-counter teeth whitening strips, brush-on gels and toothpastes take weeks or months to whiten your teeth just a few shades. ZOOM is clinically proven to whiten your teeth nine to twelve shades in 45 minutes. Only a dentist can get your teeth this white, this fast.
7. How does the ZOOM Advanced Teeth Whitening In-Office System work?
The ZOOM light-activated teeth whitening gel's active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. As the Hydrogen Peroxide gel is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged. The ZOOM teeth whitening light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth.
8. Are there any side effects to ZOOM Advanced Teeth Whitening?
With teeth whitening some people experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during treatment. These symptoms disappear within 1-3 days after completion of the teeth whitening treatment.
9. How is exposure to the ZOOM Advanced teeth whitening light controlled?

The ZOOM teeth whitening procedure in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic requires that all soft tissue in and around the mouth be protected. The dentist is required to monitor the procedure to insure any exposed skin or tissue is isolated and protected. Protective eyewear is required during the procedure. Light sensitive individuals including those undergoing PUVA (Psoralen+UV Radiation) therapy or other photo-chemotherapy, as well as patients with melanoma, should not undergo the ZOOM Teeth Whitening procedure. Also patients taking light sensitive drugs or substances, should consult their physician prior to ZOOM Teeth Whitening.
10. How long does ZOOM Advanced In-Office Whitening take?
The complete teeth whitening procedure takes just over an hour and a half. The teeth whitening begins with a preparation period followed by 45 minutes of whitening. A cleaning is recommended prior to the actual ZOOM Teeth Whitening session.
11. How does tray whitening compare?
Tray whitening is a great and inexpensive way to whiten your teeth. It is often combined with Zoom as that way you can get the instant results and you will still have the whitening trays to use later to "top up" your whiteness if you have had too many glasses of red wine!
12. Can I just get a tray system over the counter?
We see many people in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic for whitening who have bought products in chemists for whitening. You cannot buy tooth whitening gels of the same strength from a chemist as you can from your dentist. Also the tray made by your dentist is custom made and fits your teeth very closely. A tray you make yourself from a kit will leak gel into your mouth and allow saliva into the gel reducing its effectiveness.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a particular area of experience at the Dr Ghassan's Dental Clinic. Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic has trained with some of the world's greatest experts and have completed hundreds of implant treatments successfully.

We have everything in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic we could possibly need onsite to provide implants in a safe and caring environment. We are one of few dental clinics to have access to a dental CT scanner. This allows us to avoid damage to important nerves in the jaws and to the sinuses. With the CT scanner we can tell before your implant visit whether your bone is suitable, instead of having to undergo a painful investigation under an anesthetic.

The fully computerized planning systems in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic allows us to perform surgery in a virtual environment to ensure optimum results. Such equipment in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic doesn't come cheap but as we place so many implants we keep the cost to the patient much lower than you would expect for such technological innovation.

All of our team in Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic from the receptionists to the dentists have undergone some training in the USA or Germany. Dr. Ghassan Kahlout Dental Clinic firmly believe that everyone on the team needs to know about implants to be able to care for you as well as possible.
